Ticks are insects that live in woodland and open countryside.
This video explains about the problems they can cause and why you have to be careful removing them.
Simplest solution is to help prevent them attaching in the first place. Cover up with long trousers and use insect repellents. Brush clothes down before getting in tents etc. and avoid sleeping directly on the ground.
Don’t squeeze them when trying to remove them as the mouth parts mights rip off and stay in the wound causing infection.
